On behalf of the incoming Dublin Wheelers Committee, we would like to take this opportunity to share some updates with members of some planned work and events in the coming months which we seek your support with:

1) The Dublin Wheelers Open Race will take place on SATURDAY 2nd MARCH 2024 with Race HQ: Summerhill Community Centre, Co. Meath with racing starting at 10.30am.

Details of the races are as follows:
Race 1: Mick Lally Memorial Race (A+, A1, A2)

Race 2: Ian Gallahar Memorial Race (A3)

Race 3: Willie Marks Memorial Race (A4)

We request that all members SAVE THE DATE at this stage to assist with marshalling and facilities support on this day. All club spins will be postponed to enable members to attend and assist with this prestigious event for the club which also marks the start of the open racing season in Leinster. A request for expressions of interest will follow through the Race Secretary in early January.

2) To facilitate club members to get the opportunity to meet on a more frequent basis, we propose that the first Saturday spins of each month for racing and touring groups will meet to share a coffee stop. This will give members the chance to make and renew connections which is a vital part of club life. In line with agreed club protocol, all DWCC club spins are to depart from Santry gates (unless agreed otherwise for Wicklow etc) with racing and touring spin leaders to coordinate and share details of the stop in advance through website and WhatsApp channels.

3) We will be reaching out to you in the New Year to get your opinions on how we can improve as a club from communications to what we see the club realising in the coming years. This will be crucial in ensuring that every member has a say in how their club operates but also that members have pathways to develop as riders from their own personal goals in touring to racing on a national stage. We will be sharing details in January and look forward to gathering your opinions and suggestions to inform our roadmap as a Committee.

In the meantime, on behalf of the Dublin Wheelers Committee, I would like to wish all members, families and friends of the club a happy and peaceful Christmas and prosperous New Year and hope many of you get the opportunity to meet on the road over the extended break.
